SEO Video Show Recap: Trust Insights, Favicon, SEO Fight Club & Local SEO Tips


This past week's SEO Video Show featured a guest, Christopher S. Pen, the head of Trust Insights and founder of Trust Insights. Christopher spoke about some of the latest Google search trends and changes, specifically around favicons and SEO Fight Club.


Regarding favicons, Google has clarified that you don't need to have a favicon in the same domain as your website to be eligible for search results on their platform. This is similar to how Discover uses many of the same signals as search does for its algorithm. Previously, it was believed that if you had a favicon in your domain, then your website would be eligible for higher rankings on Google. However, this is no longer the case, according to Christopher's interview on this week's SEO Video Show.


Ted Kobitis shared his thoughts on SEO Fight Club and whether category depth negatively affects rankings. He concluded that it was indeed a negative factor because backlinks were mostly found on homepages and linked categories would not provide any boost from back links found there due to their distant nature from homepages, making them easily beatable by competitors' product pages in SERP's. This is an interesting topic that deserves more attention from webmasters since it can have a significant impact on ranking performance.


William & Chris provided useful advice this week regarding local SEO, advising users to rank their Google Business profiles responsibly. Such as adding nested categories to navigation bars or HTML links within footers, which are essential components of web design best practice when optimizing websites for improved visibility online and better user experience. Local SEO is an important aspect of online visibility and optimization, so keeping these tips in mind can help improve your website's ranking performance across all search engines.



GMB Strategy for Multiple Locations: Separate Pages vs. One Page

This way, all of your content is available in one place for users to access regardless of their location or device. Additionally, by using Google Analytics conversion data, platform level data and analyze Google Trends Breakout terms report you can learn even more about how users are interacting with your site and content. This information can help you make better decisions about how to improve your GMB strategy moving forward.


Finally, when utilizing AI in an SEO strategy, it must be done responsibly as per Google's best practices guidelines.
